GIS Analyst →

A small and growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a GIS Analyst to join our team. This person will be responsible for conducting advanced GIS analysis and data management focusing on natural and cultural resource management projects, including, but not limited to hydrology, geology, wetlands, and geoarchaeology. The incumbent works closely in collaboration with other staff to develop interdisciplinary knowledge, integrate, and contribute GIS skills to the total range of projects offered by Impact7G, Inc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Static map creation for projects and field map creation/support. This includes groundwater and soil contaminant plume contour mapping utilizing ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
  • Work with LiDAR data to extract elevation information.
  • Digitization of project areas for proposals in ArcGIS Pro, GIMP, and Inkscape.
  • ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey 123 app development, deployment, and staff training for field use.
  • ArcGIS Online feature layer creation and management.
  • Static map creation for Archaeology reports/proposals in ArcGIS.
  • Geodatabase creation and support.
  • Create and provide QAQC of support staff for static map creation utilizing data sourced from engineer drawings, Google Earth, and ArcGIS Pro. Provide general GIS support for data layers and proposal work.
  • Create promotional static map for prospective new clients.
  • Convert maps to and from ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD.
  • Provide general staff training/support for GIS related questions and issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Cartographic Science, Geography or similar.
  • Two (2) years minimum experience working with and developing systems utilizing GIS platforms such as ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop or Server software suites; or performing GIS modeling (e.g., relationship classes, topologies, 3-D, object, data) and spatial analysis (e.g., proximity analysis, image analysis, routing analysis).
  • Experience with ArcGIS (Portal and Online platforms).
  • Experience using file and enterprise geodatabase systems.
  • Ability to work, learn, and discover solutions independently.
  • Ability to make meaningful connections with clients, vendors, employees, and managers.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office products, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere, in-person and virtually, sometimes with short delivery time requirements and staff who possess varying degrees of proficiency.

Contaminated Sites / Brownfields Manager →

Impact7G, Inc., an Iowa-based environmental consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Contaminated Sites/Brownfield Project manager to join our growing Company. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide management and technical assistance for local and regional contaminated sites and brownfield projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple contaminated sites/brownfield projects simultaneously for public and private sector clients.
  • Work on sites with complex technical and regulatory issues.
  • Complete environmental site assessments and site investigations, site investigation work plans, remedial action plans, closure reports, and bid specifications.
  • Prepare proposals and interview for projects.
  • Manage projects within budget, scope, and schedule expectations.
    Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agency staff.
  • Ensure high-quality project deliverables.
  • Develop and expand existing client relationships.
  • Position will not initially have any direct reports but does have staff available to assist. Potential to add direct reports in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, chemistry, geology, biology, engineering, or related field
    10+ years experience
  • Minimum 7 years experience managing contaminated sites/brownfield projects
  • High level client and personnel management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Occasional overnight travel throughout Iowa and Midwest
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform work individually and in a team environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • A positive attitude and professionalism are required

Lead Driller →

A small and growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a Lead Driller to join our team. This person will work on a variety of projects which include environmental and geotechnical drilling, field monitoring, and environmental investigations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

As a Lead Driller you will be responsible for running an environmental drilling crew of two individuals on small to medium sized projects. Most drilling projects are completed within one to three days and are located throughout Iowa and contiguous states.

As a Lead Driller, you will participate in a wide range of projects which may include soil boring and groundwater monitoring well installations, collecting soil and groundwater samples, conducting environmental research, coordinating with contractors, and communicating with clients and fellow staff. Assignments may involve application of computer software, including spreadsheets or word documents. This position entails field sampling, data collection, field equipment operation and other field activities associated with environmental projects. A successful applicant will perform duties as a fully qualified professional.

Applicants will typically be working in the field and should anticipate some atypical hours on occasion and moderate travel (50-75%) with most travel to occur in Iowa. An unrestricted valid driver’s is required. Applicant must be able to pass periodic drug testing. A positive attitude and professionalism are crucial as this position will interact with clients, contractors, and fellow staff daily.
