A small and growing environmental consulting firm is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our team.  The firm is headquartered in Des Moines with multiple office throughout Iowa and additional offices out of state. The location of this position will be our Sioux City office. This person will work on a variety of exciting projects which include field monitoring and investigations, hazardous materials inspections and environmental reporting. General Responsibilities:

As an Environmental Specialist you will participate in a wide range of projects which may include: hazardous materials inspections, overseeing environmental remediation projects and completing technical reports for a wide variety of environmental projects.  Candidate will work independently on small to medium sized projects and assist senior staff on larger projects.  This position entails field sampling, data collection, field equipment operation and other field activities associated with environmental projects as well as data composition into professional reports.  You will have the tools, support, direction, guidance and oversight to assist with your professional growth.


Ideal candidates for this position will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 years’ experience within the environmental field or have experience with environmental health, public health, housing inspection, or building trades. Candidate must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a strong work ethic, and perform work individually and in a team environment.  Applicants will work both in the field and office and should anticipate overnight travel with most travel to occur in Iowa.  Some nights and weekends may be required.  Candidate must have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products including: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  A positive attitude and professionalism are required. 

Preferred, but not required:

Training will be provided by employer, however, certifications within the fields of asbestos, lead-based paint and OSHA are a plus.  GIS applications and AutoCAD are also desired.  Previous experience within the construction field is a plus.
