State announces Local Government Relief for Covid-19

During Governor Reynolds’ press conference on Tuesday August 4, 2020, the Governor announced the state will allocate $125 million in federal CARES Act funds to local governments to assist with direct expenses incurred in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of those funds, $100 million will be divided between cities (60%) and counties (40%). The remaining $25 million is reserved for matching funds required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The Iowa League of Cities Legislative Link Action Alert, provide the following link to a document published by the State of Iowa, that provides guidance on the process cities and counties will need to use to receive funding along with submittal deadlines.
