Constructed in 1927, the Ackley Geneva Wellsburg Steamboat Rock (AGWSR) elementary school in Ackley last saw students in 2014. Impact7G certified Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) inspectors discovered asbestos in a variety of materials throughout the facility including tile flooring, pipe insulation, hockey puck and carpet adhesives, and hot water tank insulation. The ACM inspection was completed in accordance with OSHA regulations, and all samples collected were sent to a certified laboratory for analysis.

Based on the U.S. EPA’s definition of “hazardous waste”, which is any material with an asbestos content greater than 1 percent, Impact7G determined that remedial actions were necessary prior to any renovation or demolition activities. The building is set to be demolished safely and on schedule in part by Impact7G’s timely inspection and resulting recommendations.
